A career that so far spans more than 25 years in the music industry as DJ, promoter, radio presenter, label owner and producer. Darren has been involved in the music industry in all forms since his early teens continuing his unique style to this current day. Darren dares to go against the musical trends and was very successful with hi house music parties drawing bigger and larger crowds with people wanting to hear something different back in the day when UK Garage was in it’s prime.
Darren DJ’d his spot at London radio station Shine 87.9FM for 3 consecutive years back in the late 90’s with his show ‘For The Love Of House’ going out across London on Saturday afternoons. His show taking on a unique edge as being the only house music show on the station between all the UK Garage and Techno shows. Many as the perfect warm up for their Saturday nights regarded ‘For The Love Of House’ with a large audience tuned in week in week out.
DJ’ing commitments saw his stint at Shine FM come to an end but his radio work was far from finished. As his travelling to play worldwide took prime position, Darren is found doing radio guest mixes all over the world. Both his professionalism and pure entertaining vibe that he brings to a night found him being re-booked for venues time and time again around the globe.
Darren has had major success with numerous labels over the years with his own productions and remixes of other artists and collaborations with some of the hottest names in the house music scene. He is often found working on the production front and at the keys of his own Disco Kid Studios as well as his remixes for labels such as Duffnote, Soulfuric, Hed Kandi, Reelhouse Records and Silocasa and having success on his own Disco Kid imprint.
Through his musical career Darren has felt fortunate to strike up lifelong friendships and work alongside some of the most respected names in house music such as Richard Earnshaw (Duffnote), Brian Tappert (Soulfuric/Traxsource), Jazz-N-Groove, John ‘Julius’ Knight, Grant Nelson, Simon Dunmore (Defected), Martin Ikin and Todd Edwards to name a few.
After taking a sabbatical Darren is now back doing guest mixes for radio shows around the world alongside doing his monthly Disco Kid Session’s mixes and soon to be back in the production saddle working alongside Richard Earnshaw under their collaboration of Earnshaw & Giles for new releases on Richard’s Duffnote label as well as getting behind the keys in his studio and dj’ing.
