Amongst the euphoric beats and laser light displays of the early 90’s rave scene, Acid house’s most infamous nights: Raindance, Dungeons and Energy is where DJ Fiddla aka Courtney Lewis
found his ambitions. Today DJ Fiddla has passionately devoted himself to the Afro house movement for the past decade and created a brand for himself. Inspired by his uncle’s record collection of reggae, disco, Motown and funk; following in the footsteps of his DJ heroes Fast Eddie, Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry and MAW (Masters At Work) which laid the foundation of his career. Securing his first residency at the Bass Box (now The Warehouse) at 18 years old, he simultaneously had his first radio shows MC’ing and DJ’ing on Underground FM, Freek FM and Magic FM; whilst guesting spots at nights such as Elevation and Desire.
Around 1995, a decision to focus on the music production, saw him collaborating on projects with Nice & Ripe, Confetti and Middlerow Records; as well as securing a contract with Jetstar. DJ Fiddla settled into a weekly radio residency at the internationally renowned, HouseFM with his own show The Moving Deep Sessions, showcasing his love for house music’s deep tribal rhythms emerging from Africa. The show still goes on reaching new audiences with its weekly show on Drums Radio, London.
Continuing to push his credentials has seen this DJ gain residencies at DrumsXVibes, Deep Into Soul parties, with regular bookings at festivals such as SUNcéBeat, COLAF-Celebration of Life & Friends, Tribe, Groove Oddyssey and Back To 95 parties. Ever-expanding, Moving Deep is now an intricate umbrella of events, record label, music production and promotions. With a desire to move the Moving Deep brand forward, DJ Fiddla has developed a successful array of regular events in London, more recently hosting several nights at Amsterdam Dance Event in 2018.
