Multi-instrumentalist maestro Michele Chiavarini’s career as a session musician, songwriter, composer, producer, arranger and remixer spans over 25 years.
He has been involved with recording artists from the widest range of music genres. Classically trained in piano, guitar, composition, orchestration and conducting, Michele is also an accomplished bassist, vibraphone player, violinist, trumpet player, a masterful programmer and skilled sound engineer.
Michele has worked on a myriad of recordings by some of the most popular artists in the world, such as Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Diana Ross, Ray Charles, Luciano Pavarotti, Christina Aguilera, Gloria Gaynor, Philip Bailey, Seal, Simply Red, Soul II Soul, Gabrielle, Lemar, A. R. Rahman (Oscar winning Slumdog Millionaire), and many more.
He has also scored extensively for film, television and advertising. Recent screen credits include ‘Quest for Gold’ and ‘The Wars of The Zulu’, two major documentaries for the Discovery Channel, How To Survive A Disaster Movie (Channel 5), Benidorm ER 2 (Channel 5), Escoffier (Channel 5), Dying For Clear Skin (BBC3), plus over 1000 syncs for BBC1 (The One Show, Strictly Dance Fever etc), BBC2, BBC3, ITV 1 (X Factor), ITV 2, Channel 4 (Big Brother, Place In The Sun etc), Channel 5, History Channel, Sky One, ESPN, Food Network, CBBC, UKTV Food, etc.
In the field of advertising, Michele has written the music for many commercials, including Toyota (100 Mile Journey), ENEL’s 50th Anniversary advert (Passages Of Light), Nat West, Evian, Heineken, Gordon’s Gin, P&O, 555, Oral B, Tic Tac & Amigos Tequila (TV bumper for ITV comedy series ‘Plebs’). His cheeky take on Brit girl groups resulted in the creation of naughty twosome Daphne & Celeste(Universal), much loved by Radio 1 and the New Music Express for its irreverent style. With Michele at the production helm, the group scored 2 UK Top 10 singles and 1 UK Top 20 album.
In the world of house music, Michele is best known for his work as a producer, remixer and session musician on hundreds of productions by some of the top DJs and dance acts in the world. Among others, Joey Negro (a.k.a. Dave Lee), Robert Owens, Seamus Haji, Mark Knight, Booker T, ATFC, DJ Disciple, Luciana Caporaso, Diane Charlemagne, Booty Luv, Danny Rampling, , Victor Simonelli, Allister Whitehead,
Bobby & Steve, Warren Clarke and many more. Among many other accolades, Michele was one of the main writers on the hugely successful dance-chillout Jakatta album ‘Visions’ (Ministry) which scored 3 UK Top 10s (American Dream, So Lonely, My Vision, featuring Seal) and many other Dave Lee projects, including Raven Maze (2 UK Top 10s), Akabu, Doug Willis and Sessomatto. He has also been a regular musician and co-writer on The Sunburst Band albums (Here Comes The Sunburst Band, Moving With The Shakers, Until The End of Time, The Secret Life of Us).
At the end of 2013 Michele has started releasing music under his own name, through DJ Spen and Thomas Davis’ Quantize Recordings. The first song, ‘1 World’ was an instant #1 singles on Traxsource, soon followed by the 2014 summer huge hit ‘Let Me See You (Clap Your Hands)’. Then ‘Doing Things My Way’ and many remixes, including a #1 with Blackmotion’s single ‘Rainbow’’ on Defected. Also on Quantize, the jazz influenced ‘The Music Tells Me’ (#1 on Traxsource’s Soulful House Chart) marked the birth of Michele’s Jazz house project ‘The Jazzcodes’.
At that time he wrote and produced several tracks for Sheila Ford’s #1 album “Here You Are”, also on Quantize and for Tracy Hamlin’s album “No Limits” on Expansion Records.
2018 was a particularly good year. Together with DJ Spen, Michele has secured the number 1 spot in the Billboard’s Dance Club Song Chart, with the remix of Donna Summer’s classic “Hot Stuff”, which is also featured in the Broadway musical about the legendary artist.
Other hits includes the Traxsource #1 remix of David Morales “Believe” and Rhemi’s superb “Diamond”. Michele has also remixed legendary American singers Melba Moore, Ann Nesby and DJ Jesse Saunders. Further highlights include the most recent collaboration with long time friend Andre Espeut and remixes of Josh Milan, Lifford Shillingford and Pete Simpson.
Outside of house music, Michele has recently co-written and co-produced a hip-hop album featuring some of the best names in US hip-hop, such as Canibus, Chris Rivers and Wrekonize.
Michele is also known for his Latin-influenced productions as Nova Fronteira. In 2003 he wrote and produced The Full Fronteira LP, released on Z Records, to critical acclaim. In 2012 the single Everybody Loves The Sunshine was also released on Seamus Haji’s Big Love and reached number 1 on Traxsource.
To celebrate the 2016 Rio summer Olympics a new EP titled Rhodes To Rio was released on Quantize Recordings to the delight of the Nova Fronteira’s fans. Among Michele’s productions and co-writes is worth mentioning Brazilian-influenced Jazzinho’s homonymous first album, featuring Guida de Palma and Tyrone Lee’s Soul/RnB debut album Invitation (www.tyronelee.com), released through Expansion Records.
