SOS: Save our Scene
All across London, clubs are being restricted or in the worst of cases, shuttered. Neighbourhoods across London are finding that the once sought after clubs are no longer needed to boost development and property prices. Once these sections get gentrified by the City bankers, they no longer want clubs but rather want swanky coffee shops with Barristas. The London authorities know this to be a problem. London nightlife is an essential source of tax revenues and employment. The London nightlife economy is estimated to be £26B per year. So to help counter the trend and manage the problem, the role of Night Czar has been created. This role is currently held by Amy Lamé. Amy’s focus has been to intervene to save clubs and to create a safer environment for night lifers, especially women. She continues to advocate for a vibrant night scene. If you have any concerns about a favourite club that is under threat, be sure to reach out to London’s Night Czar, Amy Lamé.
